Why Professionally Managed Assets?
Keith R. Fevurly
Chapter Chapter 2 in The Handbook of Professionally Managed Assets, 2013, pp 21-38 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract If you have been thinking about investing in one or more types of professionally managed assets (PMAs), you may have already asked yourself the question, “What is the advantage of investing with professionals instead of selecting my own securities?” The purpose of this chapter is to answer that question, first by examining the pitfalls of investing in individual securities and, subsequently, by evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of PMAs. The chapter concludes with a look at the types of managed money investment vehicles in today’s marketplace.
