Abstract: Abstract Roughly speaking, a function z(x, ε) is a singular perturbation of z(x, 0) if z(x, 0) fails to approximate z(x, ε) for all x of interest when ε is small. Uniformly valid approximations for such functions can often be found by the so-called method of matched asymptotic expansions. The purpose of this book is to present a rigorous development of this method and its application to integral and differential equation problems.
