Abstract:
Abstract This chapter demonstrates how to use SPSS to estimate characteristics of a population. Both point estimates and interval estimates are discussed, although SPSS does not complete the computations for many different confidence intervals. Remember that statistical inference involves estimating population characteristics on the basis of the information from a random sample; that is, SPSS bases all of its calculations on sample values contained in the data set.
