Chapter 3 in The Foundations of Topological Graph Theory, 1995, pp 39-51 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Tutte (1984) approached the classification of surfaces from a combinatorial viewpoint. In this chapter, we show how the classification of surfaces by means of 3-graphs follows from Tutte’s approach and the relationship between 3-graphs and premaps.
