Abstract: Abstract The detection of verbal activation effects in the cerebral blood flow or metabolic rates of normal human subjects by positron emission tomography (PET) scans is made difficult by high subject-to-subject variation in the measurements. Methods of adjusting for variation in whole-brain levels are considered, including a multivariate analysis of covariance approach for repeated measures.
