Chapter Chapter III in Mathematics Form and Function, 1986, pp 61-92 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter is concerned with the origins of elementary plane geometry, its close relation to groups of transformations, and the notions of non- Euclidean geometry. Subsequently, n-dimensional geometry will appear with linear algebra in Chapter VII, manifolds and spaces with curvature in Chapter VIII, and topology, in its connections with complex analysis, in Chapter X. These and other aspects of geometry pervade Mathematics.
