Abstract: Abstract This member of the Bernoulli dynasty was, for a short period in the second decade of the eighteenth century, the leading figure in all of stochastics, and he has had a lasting influence. He edited his uncle’s Ars conjectandi and this has often been mistakenly regarded as his sole contribution. He is sometimes confused with a cousin.
