Marian Smoluchowski

E. Seneta

A chapter in Statisticians of the Centuries, 2001, pp 299-302 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The investigations of the physicist Smoluchowski into the theory of Brownian movement coincided with those of Einstein. The work on statistical mechanics contains probably the first manifestation of a branching process with immigration, and of statistical inference for a random process.
