Chapter 3 in Ultrasonic Spectral Analysis for Nondestructive Evaluation, 1981, pp 93-137 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The determination of flaw size and shape is becoming increasingly important in nondestructive evaluation of materials. No longer is it sufficient merely to locate flaws, but a more definitive description of flaws is required for input into sophisticated design analysis which will give a better assessment of the probability of failure and hence reduce the number of costly components.
