A chapter in Advances in Fuzzy Sets, Possibility Theory, and Applications, 1983, pp 387-403 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Fuzzy sets theory [19], since its inception, has been exerting propagating influence on the methodological development in a variety of disciplines. Its impact on decision analysis is a typical example. Based on the conceptualization of a fuzzy decision-making environment, new theories and methods have been constructed and applied to decision-making processes in general (see for example [2, 5, 10, 21]), and multicriteria decision-making processes (see for example [6, 8, 17]) in particular. In spite of the proliferation of fuzzy sets approach in this field, its plausible application to conflict resolution involving multiple criteria, a special class of decision-making problems, though important, has only been subjected to limited scrutinization recently [12, 16, 22, 23]).
