A chapter in Mathematics Tomorrow, 1981, pp 121-126 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Many of us remember certain books, often specific pages, their layout, the arrangement of definitions, theorems and proofs. These were the passages that influenced our development as mathematicians. Such experiences make us identify with yellow, green or blue books for the rest of our lives as mathematicians; they form our ideas of style and typography.
