Abstract:
Abstract Since the “World Congress of Mathematicians,”held in Chicago In 1893, the mathematicians of the world — as urged then by Felix Klein — have gone far in forming unions and holding international congresses. In the summer of 1986 the twentieth such congress took place at the University of California (Berkeley).
