Chapter Chapter 3 in Fundamentals of Queuing Systems, 2012, pp 19-25 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter pertains to a one-server, infinite capacity system with exponential inter-arrival and service times. Could be the airline passengers arriving to a security checkpoint in the airport. The checkpoint is the service facility and the passengers are the arrivals. The difference, equilibrium and reduced equations are listed. The probability on n units in the system, and the corresponding performance measures are developed. Examples are presented to guide the reader.
