Chapter Chapter 15 in Broadband Networks, Smart Grids and Climate Change, 2013, pp 193-213 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Environmental degradation and global warming are among the major global challenges facing our societies. Strong action is needed at a global level to better manage water resources, halt the loss of biodiversity, increase prudent use of natural resources and rare materials, reduce green house gas emissions, and tackle climate change. Among these challenges, the most immediately pressing is to reduce the increase of green house gases in the atmosphere and possibly to decrease the absolute level of green house gases of all kinds.
