Abstract:
Abstract In the preceding chapters we covered fundamental definitions, concepts, and tests in statistics. In this chapter, we will go beyond the basics to explore more advanced statistical tools. We begin by revisiting the steak-diet data and discussing a nonparametric alternative to the independent-samples, pooled-variance t test that we covered earlier. We then segue to other types of analyses for comparing groups on a study endpoint. These techniques vary according to how both “group” and study endpoint are measured. We will also see these statistics “in action” by looking at examples taken from the medical literature.
