Chapter 13 in Applied Mathematics, 2002, pp 333-363 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter is concerned with four overlapping topics. The first is to discuss the solution of differential equations using series. This method is quite powerful and is very useful on new equations for which the solutions are unknown. The second topic is to discuss orthogonal functions such as Laguerre polynomials and Hermite polynomials. The third topic is the Sturm-Liouville theory, that generalizes the properties of orthogonal polynomials. The final topic is singular integral equations.
