Abstract:
Abstract A special type of system has attracted considerable attention during the past decade. This is the so-called consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system. A consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system consists of a sequence of n ordered components which either fail or operate. The system fails whenever k consecutive components are failed, In case of k=1 and k=n the system is the series and the parallel system, respectively. There are two topologies for the system considered: a line or a circle. Therefore we have to distinguish between the linear and the circular consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system.
