Abstract Elements x1,…,xp are linearly independent if no proper linear relation between them exists, so $${{x}_{1}}{{t}_{1}} + \cdots + {{x}_{p}}{{t}_{p}} = o \Rightarrow {{t}_{1}}, \ldots ,{{t}_{p}} = 0.$$
