Abstract:
Abstract Fullerene molecules are the new form of carbon in Nature discovered in 1985 in investigations stimulated by interest in certain unexplained features of the absorption and emission spectra of interstellar matter. During the last years many chemists and physicists have found themselves involved in the new area of research lying on the intersection of quantum chemistry, mathematics, architecture, space physics and space chemistry. Fullerene-based compounds exhibit many interesting physical properties and are called the materials of the 21st century.
