Abstract:
Abstract Let Z n be a supercritical simple branching process with a finite offspring mean m and zero extinction probability. Then Z n+1 Z -1 n converges to m with probability one. This note deals with the large deviation aspects of this convergence and shows that under exponential moment hypothesis the rate is geometric. Extensions to multitype case are stated without proof. Some open problems are indicated
