A chapter in International Mathematical Congresses, 1986, pp 44-45 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Since the “World Congress of Mathematicians” held in Chicago in 1893, the mathematicians of the world—as urged then by Felix Klein—have gone far in forming unions and holding international congresses. In the summer of 1986 the twentieth such congress is taking place at the University of California (Berkeley).
