Chapter Chapter Two in Algebraic Topology, 1966, pp 60-105 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract the theory of covering spaces is important not only in topology, but also in differential geometry, complex analysis, and Lie groups. The theory is presented here because the fundamental group functor provides a faithful representation of covering-space problems in terms of algebraic ones. This justifies our special interest in the fundamental group functor.
