Chapter 2 in Applied Statistics in the Pharmaceutical Industry, 2001, pp 17-40 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Virtually every kind of educational text on fundamental statistical methods covers the Student t-test for comparing two groups with respect to some response. It is arguably the most frequently applied statistical inference technique to data, helped along by its inclusion into practically any computer software that provides statistical capabilities. A considerable subset of these texts and softwares also covers data layouts with more than two groups.
