Chapter Chapter 2 in Differential Topology and General Equilibrium with Complete and Incomplete Markets, 2002, pp 29-48 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract One perhaps reductive but certainly perspicuous way to describe the present book, if one looks at it from a completely abstract point of view, is to say that it is mainly devoted to the study of some nonlinear equation systems which the authors consider particularly important in applications to problems arising in general equilibrium models. To study a system of nonlinear equations means, among other things, to decide whether or not it has any solutions, and, in the affirmative case, to establish properties of its solution set. This is a much more difficult task than in the case of systems of linear equations.
