Minority Business Now
William Cunningham
Chapter Chapter 1 in Thriving As a Minority-Owned Business in Corporate America, 2021, pp 1-30 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract On January 12, 1959, Berry Gordy started Motown Records. The company grew into a global brand and one of the most influential companies in the United States. Mr. Gordy is an African American, born and raised in Detroit, so his firm was considered a “minority business” at its start. It did not remain so. As the firm grew and prospered, the value was recognized. The firm was purchased by MCA Records in 1988. This is widely considered a successful path for a (formerly) minority-owned firm, and if this is your goal, the information contained in this book may very well help you reach it.
