Leading with a Heart of Service

Chapter Chapter 5 in Becoming a Leader in Product Development, 2021, pp 95-121 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In the previous chapter, we explored the complex phenomenon that is organizational culture. Organizational culture is a product of everything that happens in your firm—including how you develop products. Effective leaders provide their teams with the support needed to achieve organizational goals. An Agile principle is to “Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done.” Adhering to this principle means fostering a culture focused on attending to peoples’ needs within the organization. As a result of the desire to meet peoples’ needs, service becomes of the utmost importance to leaders.
