Pearson Correlation and Using the Excel Linear Trend Equation and Excel Regression Output

Rhoda Okunev

Chapter Chapter 8 in Analytics for Retail, 2022, pp 83-106 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Chapter 7 introduced the idea of thinking through a business question and building a hypothesis test around that query, and it elucidated on the five steps to run a statistical inquiry. This chapter shows how to implement those five steps using the statistical test called the Pearson correlation. A small dataset is used for demonstration purposes to show how to use the Pearson correlation, also referred to as Pearson’s r correlation.
