Metaphors for Technical Terms
Jonathan Peter Crosby
Chapter Chapter 19 in The Business Manager's Guide to Software Projects, 2023, pp 237-241 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract A passenger about to board a plane for an international flight usually needs a passport and a ticket. The passport identifies who you are, and the ticket confirms which plane you’re allowed to board. Two common terms in accessing a software application are authentication and authorization. The passport would represent authentication: Who are you? And the flight ticket would represent authorization: Which plane are you allowed to access?
