Differences Between Physical Construction and Software Development
Jonathan Peter Crosby
Chapter Chapter 9 in The Business Manager's Guide to Software Projects, 2023, pp 61-63 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract So far, we’ve focused on the similarities between these two types of work—but it’s also important to understand the limitations of these analogies. In software development, the construction metaphor is sometimes criticized for overemphasizing upfront planning. For the most part, building construction will not begin until the architectural plans are complete and building permission has been granted.
