Chapter Chapter 15 in The Startup Players Handbook, 2023, pp 575-598 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Companies, as with adventuring parties, often have a mission and values. This book is about how to build a software startup (although much of what we go through can be applied to any type of company). But many a software and hardware company also sells services. Every company with a household name has a services team. Some consider professional services a profit center; others consider services a loss leader done to improve onboarding or retention. This can be seen by where services reports in many larger companies—sometimes in sales, sometimes in support. And when services supports enough of the revenue of a company, it can even stand-alone as a division.
