Guest Chapter: On the Franchise Model for Startups
Ivan Voras
Chapter Chapter 4 in The European VC-Funded Startup Guide, 2023, pp 43-57 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract It’s rare to hear about startups and franchises in the same sentence, but there are some business models where it actually makes sense to mix the two. By using the franchise model, some startups can spread worldwide much quicker and much cheaper than they would spread by going the usual route. This concept especially applies for products which can benefit from a “human touch” with their clients, especially if they are in the B2B model. This chapter discusses how to leverage the franchise model for expansion, what revenue streams are possible in this model, and what are the common pitfals.
