A chapter in Semi-Markov Models, 1986, pp 453-461 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Many of the important fields of application of semi-Markov processes are covered by other sessions of this Symposium. Within this session attention is focussed on two major areas: a) social sciences, and especially manpower planning/mobility studies; b) medicine, including the analysis of survival data; (see the papers in this volume by D. J. Bartholomew and D.R. Cox, respectively). In this introduction a few applications in other areas will be discussed briefly. These areas are computer science, storage processes, social sciences (health care) and biology.
