A chapter in Symmetries in Science X, 1998, pp 47-61 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In these notes we study a finite collection of interacting material particles in ℝ n , a deformable medium. We do so in a rather simplified manner, in an elementary, geometric fashion. The intention is to prepare the two fold description of a medium as a discrete structure and as a continuum [l].
