Chapter Chapter Ten in Elementary Statistical Methods, 1972, pp 224-244 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In § 9.1 we discussed two examples in which the linear regression model (9.1) is appropriate. This chapter is based directly on the theory of least squares, discussed briefly in § 9.3, and here we develop the methods of analysing data for which the model (9.1) is appropriate. The methods are not applicable to estimate all linear relationships, and the following examples make this clear.
