Abstract: Abstract TheCORDIC CORDIC algorithm was introduced in 1959 by Volder [465, 466]Volder . In Volder’s version, CORDIC makes it possible to perform rotations (and therefore to compute sine, cosine, and arctangent functions) and to multiply or divide numbers using only shift-and-addShift-and-add algorithms elementary steps. To quote Volder [466], the CORDIC technique was born out of necessity, the incentive being the replacement of the analog navigation computer of the B-58 bomber aircraft by a digital computer. The main challenge was the real-time determination of present position on a spherical earth.
