Chapter Chapter 17 in A Pure Soul, 2019, pp 147-149 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The next fight was in defense of José Luis Massera, a mathematician born on 8 June 1915, in Genoa, to Uruguayan parents. Massera had studied at Montevideo University, where he had graduated in Engineering. As a young man, he had been influenced by the Jewish mathematician Beppo Levi, who had left Italy in 1938, after the introduction of race laws, and had gone to teach in Rosario, in Argentina.
