Chapter Chapter 3 in Introduction to Interrater Agreement for Nominal Data, 2019, pp 21-78 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter contains requirements to be posed to agreement indices, informs on the history of these indices and points to research situations that are more complex than the ones in which only two raters assign codes. This results in expressing a preference for a specific index. Three issues are extremely relevant for finding high agreement. These are the units that are coded, the raters who perform the coding task and the categories that are used. Many aspects that are related to these three issues are discussed to make that the future researchers are aware of these.
