Abstract: Abstract Since the 2009 global financial crisis, and significant more local supply chain disruptions due to natural events such as earthquakes, there has been a growing interest in mitigating the disruption to supply chains whatever the original cause is. In this chapter we chart the emergence of supply chain resilience as a response to the potential catastrophic failures that may occur due to a disturbance. However, disruption can occur from the demand side as well as the supply side. The chapter explores the theme of resilience through the use of the robustness, agility, leanness and flexibility (RALF) approach. We ascertain its potential utility in assessing the likelihood of a suite of supply networks to be resilient in the clothing sector. We focus on capabilities required to deal with volatility in the marketplace, and then highlight aspects in need of further research.
