Chapter Chapter 11 in Redistricting: A Manual for Analysts, Practitioners, and Citizens, 2019, pp 87-98 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter illustrates ways to align census data with other nonstandard administrative and political data for specialized applications. It addresses a generic problem that arises under various circumstances where district boundaries must match existing voting precincts; where current and historical census geographies must be aligned; where Census PUMS data are used to approximate specific populations; etc. These case studies present concrete illustrations of such issues and practical ways to resolve them, which can adapted to particular situations at hand.
