Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides an economic overview followed by a description of the organization (governance and bureaucracy) of the economy of Indonesia using indices such as ease of doing business and the Global Competitiveness Index. An account follows of the government of Indonesia since independence, providing some insight into the current situation. A discussion of the impact of Islam on Indonesian politics closes the chapter.
