Chapter 10 in The Viability of Organizations Vol. 3, 2020, pp 145-174 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter describes how the organization’s basic plan (i.e., its “blueprint”) is developed. It starts with the question of how one correctly identifies the systems 1 and it continues with the aggregation of the basic systems 1 and with the formation of higher recursion levels. To this end, this chapter provides an evaluation process for the various aggregation options and a list of relevant aggregation criteria that should be considered. On a more theoretical level, this chapter explains the function of organizational structures and details the difference between hierarchical and recursion levels (see also volume 2).
