Chapter 16 in The Viability of Organizations Vol. 3, 2020, pp 265-288 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter distills some of the key principles of the previous chapters for designing the organizational structures for the primary and secondary functions. To assist novices to the VSM, this chapter discusses some basic reorganization scenarios (e.g., eliminating a hierarchical level or merging units) without referring explicitly to VSM terminology. This chapter concludes with a fourfold quick test regarding a new organizational chart structure that readers might need if the time for a full VSM diagnosis and design process is lacking.
