Chapter 17 in The Viability of Organizations Vol. 3, 2020, pp 289-300 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter is dedicated to matrix organizations and their derivatives. First, it analyzes the reasons behind why matrix organizations do not work well and second, it investigates the causes that lead to matrix constellations. Based on this in-depth discussion, this chapter then develops principles on how to avoid matrix constellations at their roots.
