Abstract:
Abstract As defined by Simonian et al. (2018), “data science is a field of study that combines the use of statistics and computing to discover or impose order in complex data to enhance informed decision-making”. Now, relabel “complex data” as “big data” and throw in some trendy adjectives like “high-volume, high velocity and high informational variety” (Gartner Research), and you have what are arguably the most recognized buzzwords in investment management today.
