Abstract: Zusammenfassung John Locke wurde am 29. August 1632 in Wrington (Somerset/England) geboren. Er studierte von 1652 an in Oxford Medizin, Naturwissenschaften und Philosophie. 1658 wurde er magister artium und lehrte von da an als Tutor am Christchurch-College in Oxford. Von 1675 an lebte er in Frankreich, vorzugsweise in Montpellier und Paris, und ging erst 1679 zurück nach England. Bereits 1683 sah er sich gezwungen, (erneut?) zu emigrieren. Er ging nach Holland und konnte erst 1689 nach England zurückkehren. Er starb 72-jährig am 28. Oktober 1704 in Oates in der Grafschaft Essex.
