Abstract: Abstract The atmosphere was absolutely electric in the main hall of the COEX, a huge conference centre in Seoul, South Korea, on that unforgettable 13 August 2014: the Opening Ceremony of the 27th ICM (International Congress of Mathematicians) was about to start and 5000 people were sitting there waiting for the names of the four Fields Medalists to be announced.
