Abstract:
Abstract The time-to-event is the elapsed time from some origin, such as the time at which a device is switched on or the time at which a stimulus is applied until some particular event (such as failure or death) or response occurs. Time-to-event is a random variable, and as such has a probability distribution. A particularly interesting function, related to the distribution function, is called the hazard rate function. Using this relationship, models can be constructed to predict the probability of the event occurring after some particular amount of time.
