Chapter Chapter 3 in Understanding and Profiting from Intellectual Property in International Business, 2021, pp 39-69 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract An IP system (IPS)—the system that a country uses to protect IP—is, in a narrow sense, the administration of IP: the examinations and granting of IP applications, the dissemination of IP information, and the promotion of IPP in the domestic and international arenas (Thompson 1993). I argue that a complete IPS is broader and includes three parts: mechanism (the legislature and legal guidance), administration, and enforcement (the court structure and judicial system). The three-part IPS is inseparable and requires integration to contribute to a strong IPS.
