Chapter Chapter 12 in Financial Crisis Management and Democracy, 2021, pp 201-211 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This Chapter explores the impact of the financial crisis on Brazilian democracy. We argue that while Brazil is one among many countries facing systemic effects of the 2008 crisis, domestic factors are also important to understand the level of the crisis, and the fragility of democracy at the present. Domestic factors explain, therefore the differences between Brazil and other countries in Latin America and in Europe.
