Chapter Chapter 9 in The Economic Dimension of Eurasian Integration, 2021, pp 175-188 from Springer Abstract: Abstract The free movement of labour in an economic union allows a more effective allocation of the labour force and therefore the maximization of the total output of the integration entity. Nonetheless, there are very few functioning common labour markets among a great number of integration entities in the world. The common labour markets which exist in the European Union (EU) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are the most developed ones at the moment. Despite the great achievements in liberalization of labour mobility in the EAEU, there are still limitations and exemptions in labour mobility regulation which might decrease the economic benefits for the member-states and the union as a whole. The chapter will focus on how important the free movement of labour is for EAEU economic development, what the main features of labour mobility regulation are, what kind of benefits and costs the current system of regulation provide for the member-states, and what the spheres of regulation are where improvement is the most needed.
